Gummies are a favorite of many people, but they can be dangerous for dogs. Making homemade gomitas para perros is simple and quick. It takes just a few minutes to cook!
Gummies are made from gelatin, which is dissolved in water. There are many liquid bases that you can use, and you can even mix or add additional treats to make a sweet or savory treat for your dog!
Prepare your tray for the gelatin mixture before you start. You can either use silicone trays or ice cube trays.
You can make it easier to remove the gummies from the trays by spraying olive oil on them. You used an olive-oil mister to spray the silicone molds with olive oil. If you don’t have one, you can lightly grease the molds with olive oils.
You don’t need a silicone tray, an extra ice cube tray, or both. You can use a small jellyroll pan or a disposable foil tray. After the gummies have set, spray them with olive oil. Then use a knife for cutting the squares. Your dog will not mind!
How To Make Gelatin For Your Dog
Now, it’s time for the gelatin to be made!
You used liver broth you had frozen from a previous dog treat recipe. You can also make homemade broth or liver broth with either beef liver or chicken liver in the same manner.
So that the broth could be chilled, you placed the broth in the fridge overnight.
First, sprinkle 2 tablespoons of gelatin over 1/4 cup of cold broth. Allow the gelatin to “bloom” in the cold broth for one minute.
While you wait, heat a half cup of broth in the microwave or on the stove. You don’t have to worry about the bits of meat in your broth. Your dog will love it!
When the broth has boiled, add the hot broth to the chilled broth.
Mix the mixture well and then transfer it to the trays.
Allow the gummies to cool in the refrigerator for at least four hours before removing them from the tray.
The gummies can be kept in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Cool treats for dogs after a dog walk in the summer!
Gummies are a great way to sneakily give pills to your dog. Just insert the pill into the gelatin, and you’re good to go!
Gummies Ideas For Dogs:
You can mix it up! You can use any of these liquids to make your gelatin dog treat.
Beef broth (make your beef broth; the store versions contain onion powder, which is a no-no to dogs).
Bone broth can be made at home using onion powder and seasonings.
Pumpkin puree and water (see How to make your pumpkin puree). Use pure pumpkin puree from a store, and not pie filling that contains spices or sugar.
Cans of dog food and water
Water and dog food that has been dehydrated
You can also use water and plain gelatin, with sprinkles. These can be pulverized in a food processor, blender, or simply dropped into the gummies after you have placed the mixture in the tray.
Turmeric (about 1/8 teaspoon) mixed with a pinch of black pepper
Small pieces of liver or chicken
Small pieces of banana
